Outlook Plugin Installation Error – The Value of the property ‘type’ cannot be parsed

During installation of the Less Meeting Outlook Plugin you may receive the following error.

How to fix the "Value of the property 'type' cannot be parsed" error

This error happens when there is a corrupt VSTO file already present in your system, possibly from another Outlook plugin.

To allow the Outlook installation you will need to delete this file. Note - You may want to keep a backup copy of the file for future needs.

Steps

  1. Open Windows Explorer
  2. Visit the exact file path described in your error message (e.g. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VSTO\10.0
  3. Locate the file named VSTOInstaller.exe.Config
  4. Delete this file
  5. Now you will be able to install the plugin
